Welcome, Jack, to Keturah's Korner! Please introduce yourself to us!
Thank you so much for having me! Well, as you can tell, my name is Jack, at least as far as my pen name goes. Jack Lewis Baillot. My real name is a mystery because I'm that sort of person. I'm an Author and do everything that title entails — like writing books, sometimes editing them, and reading every chance I get. And once in a great while marketing.
How many books have you written and how many of them are published?
I have written at least seventy to eighty books in my lifetime. Some will never see the light of day, most are being rewritten now that I have some idea of what I'm doing, HA!, and will hopefully be published at a sometime later date. I have published two so far, both historical fiction set in WWII but completely different from each other. Brothers-in-Arms is a 400 page length novel set in Hitler's Germany and Finding the Magic is a small novella set during the London Blitz and is a Beauty and the Beast retelling
What is your favorite genre to read/ write?
This is impossible for me to answer. I read and write in a vast number of genres. I love fantasy but also love historical fiction. Steampunk is also tons of fun, and I do some Science Fiction as well as true stories. I wrote a modern novel even. So, just about anything I have an interest in so long as the characters are good.
What is your favorite POV and tense to write?
Third person past present. It is the only one I can really write in though I someday want to stretch myself and see if I can attempt first person. I have tried it but never made it far.
Why do you write and when did you start writing and what keeps you writing?
I write because I have a crazy imagination and I feel I will burst if I keep it all in. I love creating and sharing my creations and I love my characters and want to share them with my readers. They are what keep me writing, my characters, and now also my readers who have been faithful to me in spite of my three year absence.
What's one thing that you're passionate about and could always rant about that has nothing to do with books or movies or writing?
Oh, I can rant about any of my beliefs and passions. I am a very ranty person when I get going. Mostly I rant about history and how we need to remember what has happened in our past so that the saying, "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it," doesn't come about. I rant a lot on this subject.
Now what's something else you're passionate about that does have something to do with books, movies, or writing?
Creation. I believe art and creativity and imagination is important and is constantly looked down upon or undermined. And I think it needs to be kept about and I like to help with that in whatever way possible.
Is there a word that describes 2018 for you?
Stretching. In both good and bad ways.
Why is fiction important?
I think it might not be as important as real life, but I do believe it is useful and helpful. Where do most people turn in times of trials but to fiction for inspiration. God gave us stories for a reason, they are even used in the Bible to illustrate life for us.
Why is your fiction important?
Hm. I guess I should mention I have low self confidence and my first reaction is always it isn't, but then I get these scowls from my characters and feel as if I am letting them down. So I think it is important because of them.
Is there a question I haven't asked that you wish I had asked that you would like to answer?
My thought goes to cookies, but that is not actually a question. I just want some.
How can others stalk you?
I love new stalkers. I am mostly found on my website, jacklewisbaillot.com, but you can also find me hanging out on Instagram, Facebook, and twitter. Just look for Jack Lewis Baillot.
Thank you so much for joining me today!
Thank you so much for having me!!
Jack is having a giveaway for Finding the Magic at her instagram or blog! If you'd like to see what I thought of this book, check out my review.
Jack just wrote another book. And she's finally ready to share the title with you all! But first a back-cover description:
Adam Clark has just returned from the war in Iraq. He has come home to a family which has rejected him and wants nothing to do with him. He feels all he has left is the house his grandpa left him and the God he put his trust in. Dealing with PTSD because of what he experienced in the war, Adam sometimes wonders how he will get through each day.
India Lee struggles with PTSD for different reasons. Suffering trauma from her past, India is often scared to leave her house. Depressed and lonely, her only companion is her older brother Jared and her only occupation her little flower garden. She doesn't trust her new neighbor anymore than she trusts anyone.
Then comes the day when Adam steps outside his own shell to help India. A small act of kindness changes their lives and sets them on a path which could bring them healing if only they are willing to open up and face their broken pasts and their present pain. Their battles are long and frightening, but both believe God can bring them through the darkness until they see the light face to face.
Have you read any of Jack's books? If not, you are really missing out! All of them are so good. And Brothers-in-Arms is really good ;) Hope you guys enjoyed this surprise post! I have a really intense post planned for Wednesday, so make sure to stay tuned for that!
