Having long hair is pretty you say? It's also hard. Plus, I'm very picky. I don't like cheap products. I don't like spending tons of money. I like things to be pretty — but not gaudy. I like simple and outstanding. I like practical — something that is easy to do and matches with most of my outfits.
And so, for most of my life I hid my hair under a hat.
And then for the next half of my life I braided it — for awhile I added a scarf or ribbon into that braid. But I don't always feel like looking like a home schooled nerd or gypsy.
A couple years ago I discovered Lilla Rose hair clips. And have consequentially been falling in love.
I currently only own four (counting the one featured in this post): two mediums, one extra small, and one mini. I love all of them. And have found amazing, simple, stunning hairstyles that fit my perfect fashion need of business casual + excited hippie.
In this post I'd like to share a few things:
- A Lilla Rose giveaway
- A how-to for my favorite Lilla Rose hairstyle
- Some pictures to torment your eyes
Business/ Formal Appropriate Bun
Supplies: Hair and fingers and Lilla Rose hair clip of your choice.
Steps:
- Brush clean hair.
- Braid hair (looks especially nice if french braided. In the below pictures I simply braided).
- Roll braid into a ball on your head.
- Slip hair clip through the braid and fasten until it feels secure. Sometimes I have to do this more than once — the clips shouldn't fall out and the hair shouldn't either. Everything should be comfortable and remain in place
- Dress nice and expect a ton of compliments!
The promised pictures:
Simply putting all your hair back in the clip works nicely, too. |
Up close of hair pulled back. |
How to put your hair up:
Clean and brushed |
Normally I don't do my hair in the wind . . . definitely not recommended for good results. |
Catch and . . . |
. . . braid! |
One simple braid — french braid looks amazing though! |
Roll up into a bun. |
Slide in the clip, starting at your right and weaving it through the braid. |
Fasten until secure. |
Make certain it feels good, maybe mess with it a little. |
And there you have it! |

I'm wearing a size medium Floressa Lilla Rose hair clip, given to me in exchange for a review. As you can tell, I really do love these hair clips. I'll admit I was hesitant to get them at first because online they looked like cheap products to me. But all the ones I've ever owned appear much nicer in real life. Plus look amazing when worn.
And now for the giveaway!

This is for a size xs Floressa hair clip and matching necklace and earrings.
Megan Riggs gave me my Lilla Rose hair clip in exchange for a review + giveaway hosting. Make sure to check out her website!
I loooooove the Lilla Rose clips!!! I've kind of lost count of how many I have, due to giving them away and loosing the occasional one (which is what happens when you let your little sisters wear them). But for someone like me who can do three hairstyles at the most (on myself, anyway), these are a life saver!!! I can easily "fancy up" a ponytail (my traditional) or just clip the sides back. And they're so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteAt first I didn't like them, because they always slid out of my hair, and then I tried getting a smaller size, and that worked perfectly!!! They really are nicely made. My sister uses the pins as well, and really likes them.
(Love your dress and the background, btw.)
I only have four of the medium and one mini and two sticks and a set of hair pins. So I haven't lost count yet haha! But, yes, they are so lovely. I don't think I could be as nice as you are and give any away ;D They are such lifesavers because yeah they make simple look fancy!
DeleteThe right size definitely matters! From online they look so cheap, so I've always been surprised how nice they are in real life.
Thanks! I have so much fun with fashion, and that's our back yard. Montana has mountains ;p
I cut my hair (which was past my waist!) this previous summer, but before that, I wore my Lilla Rose a lot! I believe mine was a large, and I mostly braided/bunned with it, ha! Now, my hair is growing back again and I really gotta get more of these. :P Love your styles and pics!
ReplyDeleteOh, short hair would be hard to style, but not impossible. Braids and buns are definitely the most fun with these! Thanks :)
DeleteLove the clip, I mostly just wear my hair down because I'm lazy. XD
ReplyDeleteHaha, know the feeling! I used to wear my hair always down with a hat on top. I'm still lazy, but I also like pretty things. So I've loved finding styles that look great but take little time and effort ;)
DeleteI have a bunch of Lilla Rose products! My mom loves using Flexi clips. While I don't do much with them, the sticks work perfectly for putting my hair up, and the U-pins are even more secure! U-pins are probably my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love the sticks! I just bought two and I have a feeling I'll be using them the most. I've been wanting to try the U-pins but not really sure how to get into that. If you have any suggestions I'd be happy to hear styles!
Delete*heart eyes* I need to get one of these! I've been growing my hair out and get sick of braiding it sometimes XD
ReplyDeleteOne thing: do you know how well they work for thick hair? As in VERY thick hair? I always have a hard time using clips because mine is so terribly thick (fun to braid, but hard to keep clean xP)
Thanks for this post! <3
Oh, yes. Braiding is fun but can get old! You really should get one!
DeleteThey work great for thick hair. You just have to make sure to get the right size. I'll tag you in some comments on FB that will help you with seeing what size you need :)
Thanks for commenting!
Gorgeous! Your hair is lovely. :D And so are the hairpieces!! I've never used them, but I know people who do---so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sarah! I hope you're able to use one someday soon! I'm sure you'll fall in love :)
DeleteI never tried these before. They look great for long hair. Most of the time when I put my hair up it hurts my head after a while. I want to try these.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress!
They are great with long hair. Yeah, I used to be the same with putting my hair up but now I almost always wear it up. I think your head slowly grows accustomed to the weight, plus learning how to spread it evenly helps. Hope you get to try one!
DeleteThanks!
