When Life Isn't The Colors You Want

"You have such a colorful life," many a friend have told me in recent years. I always smile (in bright pink or yellow, right, though my teeth remain white) and say thank you (with a respectful shade of brown), and say it's all fun (green is life ya know). But something about the statement of my colorful life irks a dark, black part of my conscious. You see, my life hasn't always been colorful. Or wait ... it always has been colorful. But not with the shades or colors I like.  You see, much of my life has felt grey. You know, dull and pointless. It had its times of pastels ... almost, there were colors I liked, but "Why did they have to be so faded and out of reach of what I really wanted?"  Or, those times of life, when everything was awkwardly fluorescent shades of "I'm trying to colorful, but I'm really going to hurt your eyes". You see, my life has ALWAYS been colorful. But it's only now that it's of the colors th...

Smile Every Day, Then Write Down Why

Life is one of those things that is tough, I think most will agree. Whether you're an angty teen or drowning in the waters of # adulting  I think most of us find that we all have struggles and half of that struggle is searching for a way to just be done struggling. "Can't I just smile and breathe for a moment?" But there's no time for either. Life was really tough for awhile. Eating, writing, working—all of it was a struggle. I spent my days dreaming of sleeping. Because when I sleep that's the only time I don't have to feel, to remember, to do anything (I'm one of those lucky people that sleep easily and never have dreams to bother me as I sleep) . But . . . I didn't want to sleep my life away. And I didn't want to live it depressed, either, It was so hard, but every day I had to want this over and over and over. It was exhausting. And sometimes I wondered if it was worth the effort. But I pressed on. I did a lot of thing...

Life is Exciting, but Dyeing Adds Color

One of my friends wrote this really neat blog post about how to ice dye . So, of course I had to try it out. I won't teach how to ice dye in this post, as my friend's post I linked to above is more than adequate. But I will say that ice dyeing is a fun form of tie dyeing.  The first time I did it, I decided to teach a handful of girls while I was learning myself ;D  (Every other Tuesday afternoon I have a "Girls' Afternoon" at my home. I teach the girls some small, fun thing, then have some sort of Bible study.) Anyways, I didn't have shirts, so we dyed tea towels. I was happy with how my towel turned out. It has an eye in the center ;)  This is an awkward picture... but there are some of my girls, and on the table you can see all of our towels going through the process of dyeing.  But I enjoyed the dyeing so much, I had to do it again. So, when the little boy I babysit turned 5, we did a morning of dyeing shirts for his birth...

The Best Hairstyle For Long Hair Ever [says me]

Hey, ya'll! I don't do many fashion posts, but thought that this would be fun. 😊 Though technically this is not a fashion post but an unfashionable, wild, crazy post! Lol 😝 I mean how many people are crazy enough to dress this way - on a a normal basis, and in public? Me. Yeah, right. 😉 I am rather weird in my tastes. I like wild, comfy, pretty, easy, crazy, fancy, practical all wrapped in one. - Those are some of my favorite words, too ;). I get some crazy results :D Such as this new thing with my hair ( I've been doing it about 6 months now ). I first did it in this picture - wanting something unique and pretty for a girls' party I was going to, I suddenly thought of braiding a ribbon into my hair. A close friend, Esther helped me! ( Never knowing how crazy I'd become weeks later ). The ribbon was soon replaced with a scarf :) At first I would just wrap the scarf around my head, tie it under my pony tail and then over. An...
