Sensible Sentiment

I used to think all feelings, except happy feelings, were evil. And then even some of those happy ones were just a bit too much, too. Tears, even joyful ones, were immature. Being too expressive was foolish. I believed emotional people were unstable and thus unable to clearly rationalize. But then I broke. For two straight months, I couldn't think. The sudden onslaught of inward pain numbed me and my body reacted by going into shock from exposure to foreign feelings I'd once refused to know. And for that short time I didn't care about what I'd once thought of emotions—they owned me and all reason and logic were gone. But as my senses slowly returned, I hated myself for giving in to the emotions that gripped all of me. I'm not sure how I would have got through it if a couple of my friends hadn't told me over and over that, it was okay to grieve. With my friends support, I let myself feel my way through those dark months and I let my brain just die for...

Emojis Are Life

I really love Emojis. Especially the happy ones. To me words convey ideas and part of feelings while emoji's share feelings and part of ideas. For fun, I decided to research the subject of Emojis and what I found is so fascinating. First there is a difference between emoji and emoticon. Emoticon is the first of the two words to have been discovered. It is a portmanteau, meaning that two words were blended together to create one. Emotion + icon = emoticon. Emoticons are basically just punctuation arranged to create facial expressions. Here are some code ( punctuation marks ) for some of our favorites ;) Saved from here According to  this  article emoticons first appeared in newspapers in 1881. That's like A LONG TIME AGO, GUYS! Next time someone old tells you, " We didn't use smiley faces when I was young, " ask them, " Are you sure? " According to that same article emoticons weren't actually introduced to computers until about a h...

Inside Out: Thoughts and Spoilers, too

I just recently has the opportunity to watch the animated movie Inside Out. Let me just say it was sooooooo good! In this post - because you can find so many reviews on it - I'm going to just give my thoughts on Inside Out . It was beautiful. The makers of this movie were brilliant. They took a deep concept and made a simple children's movie. Full of fun, craziness, and plot centered around an 11-year old girl, Rylie,  you wouldn't expect to be bombarded with the importance and complexity of one's brain. Her five emotions, Disgust, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Joy, were all ruled by Joy, the logical most important part of one's life - for with out Joy we are not happy. Rylie lives a carefree life, always laughing, the sign of eternal happiness all because of Joy. Core Memories were comforting and always there. Just a couple days before seeing this movie, I asked a friend if she had certain memories, maybe not big, but important. I descibed...
