Are You Hungry?

I'm really weird with food. I usually get stuck on one thing for a long time. Usually it's decently healthy, easy to make, and tastes good (to me.) And so I make it over and over and over until... no I never get tired of it, I just find something else. And I can only focus on one food at a time ;)

For awhile it was these large, delicious salads. I'll try to do a blog post on them this summer. It's seriously the yummiest salad ever, and not that hard to make.

Then bananas and peanut butter.

Then it was Greek yogurt, stevia, and whatever I could find to add.

Then sourdough bread and peanut butter.

For awhile I did spoonfuls of coconut oil.

And then anything with peanut butter or nutritional yeast.

Normally these food obsessions originate with hunger.

I'M HUNGRY!! NO, I'M STARVING!!!!!!! WHERE IS THE FOOD???? IMAGINATION, MAKE ME FOOD. EAT WHATEVER YOU CAN FIND, BE SATISFIED.

And, this is just what I do. I eat what I can find.

I've discovered that I liked things I always thought I didn't like during times like these. Such as:

  • mushrooms
  • grapefruit
  • avacados
  • raw banana peppers
  • eggs
  • mustard

Some days I try things that are nasty, though. Such as...

It looks like a carrot stick dipped in snot... just saying.

...sweet potato fry dipped in guacamole. It tasted like two splendid distinct flavors clashing for superiority. Basically, I did not like it.

Another time I tried corn chips dipped in peanut butter. That wasn't so bad.

On one of these starving days all I could find was some of my sourdough bread, some Monterrey jack cheese, and some crunchy peanut butter.

I was so hungry I couldn't decide whether to make a cheese sandwich or a peanut butter sandwich. So, I put it all together... and it was quite good.

Awhile later, while babysitting, the kids were hungry.

My mind came up with a clever idea:

Havarti Cheese:

Peanut Butter:

Put them together:

Yummy!!!

I told the kid, "Now this looks nasty! But it doesn't taste nasty!"

I tried a bite first just to show him so. Then he tried it.

"You're right!" he said. And then he ate it all. And has asked for it again. And again. And again. Yummy.

I've recommended this yummy snack to several of my friends.

They think it sounds gross. I told one friend, "You can't vomit until you try it."

And of course once you try it, you won't vomit :D But that didn't seem to convince her ;D

What do you think? Will you try this out? What are some weird food ideas you've tried that turned out to be tasty? Even some nasty ones, just for laughs! I'd love to hear your stories :)

  1. Oh my gosh, I used to have a friend who was always snacky (Aren't we all, though?) and when I was at her house, we'd make some of the craziest stuff. We did stuff with nutella. One time we used lemonade powder. (Yes powder. We were weirdos, honestly.) I've actually eated corn chips and peanut butter. Cheese sun chips and peanut butter is delicious. Another thing I like but my family thinks is gross is I take a club cracker, some bbq sauce, and shredded cheese. It kind of tastes like pizza, which is ironic because I don't like pizza. XD

Or french fries dipped in milkshakes. It doesn't matter what the flavor is, it tastes delicious.

I realize my weird snacks aren't so healthy. XD There is one that's actually healthier, but I don't know if it's weird. I take a spoonful of peanut butter (if you couldn't already tell, I LOVE peanut butter) and put dark chocolate chips on it. It's like a reeces. XD

Okay, this was longer than I meant to comment, lol.

    Great post!

    1. First.... YOU DON'T LIKE PIZZA? I should cry... but I guess that just leaves more for me if we ever get together ;p

And that stuff doesn't sound that bad to me! (but then I wrote this post). Though I really don't like nutella. I'm starting to think it's ok. Also, don't like artificial lemonade ;p

Hey, love long comments! Thanks :D

    2. Haha, well, I can't have certain dairy products and the cheese on pizza is one of them. I eat it anyway, but it's just not my thing. XD (Okay, but it would be so cool if we could meet in real life one day. XD)

I'm not big on nutella, either. It's pretty much like chocolate pudding, which I love, but not as a spread for crackers and bread. I think she had the nutella at her house and brought it to mine. XD I do prefer fresh lemonade, but the powder stuff is okay. Just not pink lemonade. Blech.

      You're welcome. <3

  3. I like snacking, but I'm not very creative with it.

My brother, on the other hand, likes to put mustard and parmesan cheese on EVERYTHING. XP

    1. Haha! Sometimes you don’t have time to be creative when you’re hungry.

      But that is... creative 😁

  4. hahaha, I used to be really creative with snacks when I was in middle school. I had some oddball combinations - one I think was marshmallow fluff with raisins or something like that...LOL.

  5. Like Gray said above, I'm not the most creative with snacks xD

I'm also not the kind of person who eats a lot of snacks (especially healthy ones) then again, I don't snack often.

I like biscuits: cookies, shortbread biscuits, custard creams. Also crisps, though I don't eat them as often. I try to eat more fruit (like pears) these days.

    1. I actually don't eat a lot of snacks to be honest... this is what I'll eat for a meal ;p Or with a meal. Biscuits are good! And so are pears!!!

  6. I mostly eat fruit, popcorn, or cheese and crackers if I want a snack. XD Though I really love this Cuban snack that is galletas (butter crackers) with cream cheese and guava paste. So yum. ^ ^

Living Like The Amish: Interviews With Three "English" Families PART I

Many people are obsessed with the Amish. I know at one time I was as well, and to a degree I still am. But my perception  has changed with experience. It started a long time ago when my family went to an Amish-held auction (no, it's not a place where you can buy Amish children, but a place where you can buy things from the Amish). I was eleven years old and enthralled to be surrounded by so many Amish. I loved the cockscomb flowers they sold everywhere. I bought a whole box for $2 and dried them for seeds so I could plant my own. But then I experienced my first reality shock concerning the Amish. I had assumed since they lived a simpler life everything about them was completely old-fashioned and natural. Imagine my horror when I saw Amish walking around with soda cans and store-bought ice cream. " Mom ," I said. "He's drinking soda!"  Left to right, back row: Jonny, Jonathan (Dad). Front row: Jacob, Keturah, Rebekah (Mom), Jonah (on Mom's

How Bad Can I Be?: Lyrics That Make You Go "Wow!"

Peace During Patience

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” - Philippians 4:6 My family and I were sitting around the breakfast table several months ago. Mom had just read this verse. One of the kids laughed incredulously, “What is it saying? Be careful for nothing – live recklessly?” “No,” I answered quickly. My tone was very matter-of-fact, blunt, as if I were all-knowing. “It means do not worry.” The kids all nodded among themselves and life continued on for them. But for me life paused at my words. I had heard this verse soooooooo many times. I had always known what it meant. But now? Now it really meant something . “Do not worry.” This path I've chosen. I can not see it. I can not feel it. I do not know where I am. I have chosen to follow God, and no other. But why did He hide the light from my eyes? I must take a step forward. But I do not want to. How long w

Inside The Land Of The Free

Hello. My name is Greg.  I have a lot of time to think. Too much time. Sometimes I think about my life - why I am sitting in prison. I wonder what I could have done different - my life plays before my eyes. "If only..." But even I know that no amount of good works would have stopped tyranny from finding fault with me. It is cold. My clothes are thin. My stomach is empty - occasionally filled with food of no sustenance.  I hide my face in my knees - as if that will somehow protect me from the horrors of this dark cold dungeon.  They keep it cold to freeze me, this I know. It is a part of their game - to drive a lesson into me. As if I have a lesson to learn solely because I was convicted. Convicted, but not  guilty. Years.  68 years for standing against injustice. How many years have I sat in here? I have forgot. All I know is this question, "Was I fated for this? Did God grant my birth
